Thirty Dinners


These are the basic dinners I cook on a regular, rotating basis. This is my "default" list, I make other things sometimes; for instance, I cook a turkey dinner 3 or 4 times a year and I bake lasagna twice a year. But having the default list allows me to not have to sit down and plan menus again and again, simplifying menu planning and grocery shopping.

My husband doesn't like as wide a variety of vegetables as I do; hence many of our meals are served with canned fruit as well as vegetables.

I skip the potato, noodles, rice, bread and fruit in these meals, but the main entree and many of the side dishes are diabetic-friendly.

  2. smoked or polish sausage on buns, cole slaw
  3. meatloaf, mashed potatoes, fauxtatoes (mashed cauliflower), canned peaches
  4. cannellini bean soup, sauteed Swiss chard, salad, canned pears
  5. stuffed peppers, beef-flavored rice
  6. pork roast, baked potatoes, parsley squash, applesauce
  7. hamburgers and fries
  8. ham and scalloped potatoes, broccoli with cheese sauce, canned pineapples
  9. oven-fried chicken, mashed potatoes, fauxtatoes (mashed cauliflower), canned peaches
  10. split pea soup, salad, artichokes
  11. crock pot Italian shredded beef, yellow rice, sauteed Swiss chard, canned pears
  12. sausage and cheese quiche, cucumber salad, canned pineapple
  13. pasta and meatballs, salad, canned peaches
  14. crock pot Italian chicken, parsley rice, sugar snap peas
  15. pizza, salad
  16. breakfast burritos, canned pears
  17. oven roasted carnitas, baked potatoes, fried peppers and onions
  18. chili, salad, canned pineapples
  19. bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches
  20. bourbon chicken, chicken-flavored rice, canned peaches
  21. beef roast, baked potatoes, garlic green beans
  22. Italian sausage soup, salad, canned pears
  23. chicken parmesan, canned pineapple
  24. chicken fajitas
  25. baked beans, salad, cole slaw
  26. hamburger stroganoff, canned peaches
  27. pork chops, sour cream noodles, fried peppers & onions, applesauce
  28. hamburger and cabbage stir fry
  29. ham frittata, canned pears
